In-Home Medical Alert Review – MobileHelp Classic
Our test model of the in-home device included MobileHelp’s cellular base station and with wrist and necklace alert buttons. MobileHelp doesn’t offer an in-home landline solution. So before ordering, make sure AT&T cell phone coverage is adequate where you will use the system. Go to AT&T’s website to check coverage in your area.
MobileHelp’s in-home medical alert console (MobileHelp Classic) is packed with features. Details include colored buttons for better visibility during the nighttime, LCD display, and a temperature monitor, which is helpful for customers living in hot and humid areas of the country. The Classic system also comes with aesthetically pleasing buttons that are comfortably worn around the wrist and neck.

While not quite as quick as Bay Alarm Medical’s landline system, the differences in response times are negligible, and getting a representative on the phone is easy. Range performance in our two-story office was around 200 feet. Also, we really like that two free waterproof buttons are offered with each system.
So as long as your cellular coverage is good and you don’t have an existing landline, we can confidently recommend the MobileHelp Classic as your in-home medical alert system.

On-the-Go Medical Alert – MobileHelp Solo
Aesthetically, the unit is heavy and bulky. If portability and sleekness is what you’re looking for, other companies have better options.
That said though, there is an important reason for its size. We believe that MobileHelp’s claim to fame is the fact that their in-home buttons are compatible with the mobile device. That’simportant because many customers want an all-in-one solution to use both in and away from the home. In fact, it can be beneficial for aging adults and those with conditions that increase fall risk (like heart disease, diabetes, or thyroid problems) to try these medical alert systems out while they’re still in good health.
Though it is difficult to discuss the need for additional help or monitoring with an elderly parent or loved one, ignoring safety concerns will not make them go away. Delaying “the talk” could jeopardize a parent’s health, safety, or well-being, while their healthcare demands and your own stress level as a caregiver rise. If you’re looking for a straightforward “jack of all trades” device that does it all, the MobileHelp Solo could be your solution. A downside to the Solo is that itshe speaker isn’t nearly as loud as a dedicated in-home system. Also, the unit requires frequent recharging. It’s not waterproof, and the range we tested was limited to about 100 feet. However, if your loved ones are young and always in and out of the house, we think the MobileHelp Solo is a very solid offering.

Pricing and Value
MobileHelp is an OEM for a few medical alert providers, so if you’re shopping around and like the look and features of the hardware, we recommend you stick with MobileHelp instead of going with one of their dealers. Not that there’s anything wrong with the other sellers, but being the manufacturer simply means cost savings are usually passed onto the customer.
The in-home MobileHelp Classic starts at $19.95/mo (requires a one-time fee of $49.95) and the on-the-go MobileHelp Solo starts at $37.95/mo. Both the Classic and Solo can be bundled together at a cost of $41.95/mo.
